They got to the arena and Karen sat in the lounge as Sidney got changed into his warm up clothes. She knew his pre-game routines would come into play and would be heading up to find Sheril and Diane in a little bit. Karen would love to just sit back and watch everything Sidney did to get ready and watch that intensity fill in his eyes but knew it was a ritual not meant to see. After a half hour, her cell phone beeped with a text message telling her they were outside. Karen grabbed Natalie and they said good luck to their men and headed out to meet the girls.

After the game got started, Karen could feel tonight was going to be a blow out. The crowd was nonstop cheering and the guys seemed excessively pumped up as they took the ice. An hour later, Sidney, Max and a few others had shown up at Pops for a celebration of their win.

"Great game tonight studly" Karen said kissing him.

"I just started drinking, can you two possibly wait maybe 20 minutes for the alcohol to take effect?" Sheril asked as the others laughed.

"Well, they're over there and you guys are sitting here, see the difference."

"Don't know, she was fine at the game." They shared a look and continued celebrating.

A while later, Karen and Sidney were getting ready to head out when a sight stopped her. She shook her head and smiled at Sidney when he took her hand to leave the bar. As they were heading home, Sidney noticed how quiet Karen was and had to wonder what was wrong.

"Baby..." he said getting her attention "what's going on?"

"After Sheril's little tyrant and when we were leaving, I saw her near the bar kissing Kris Letang."

"Um, isn't she married?"

"Yeah and I know she's had a little crush on Tanger but to actually take the next step and make out with him, something's got to be wrong."

"Ok, don't know what the problem is but please do not come into my house and talk to my husband that way" Karen said coming down the stairs.

Sheril looked at Sidney and soften her attitude "sorry, but I need to talk to my friend. I didn't mean how I came off."

"It's ok. How about I make us some breakfast and give you guys time to talk" he kissed Karen and left them alone.

"Sorry if I woke you" she said as they went into the living room to sit down.

"We had just woken up so you're fine. What's going on girl? Does this have anything to do with last night?"

"You saw that?" she asked seeing Karen nod her head. Sheril put her head in her hands and sighed "I guess to get even I had an opportunity and took it."

"What do you mean 'get even'? Did Steve do something? Did he cheat on you?" she asked flabergasted.

"Not technically but I guess you can call it cheating?"

"I'm lost, did he or didn't he cheat?"

"Here" she said handing her a couple letters "read these." Karen took the letters and read them to herself. By the end of the second letter she couldn't believe what she just read.

"I can't believe this. He wrote this to this other woman? Who is she?"

"Some girl he met I guess as he was driving. He got the address wrong or something and it came back. I thought it was suspcious and opened it, reading what it said."

"I can't believe this."

"He told her he can't wait to see her, or that he cares about her enough to love her."

"Did you question him about it?"

"No, he's not back until Tuesday night."

"Any idea what you're going to do?"

"Confront the bastard" she said startling Sidney as he walked in.

"Sorry, bad timing?"

"No" Karen smiled at him.

"Breakfast's ready if you guys would like to come eat."

"We'll be in shortly." Sidney just nodded and went back into the kitchen to plate up the food.

"I don't want to be a burden any longer, I'll let you and Sid enjoy breakfast together."

"Nope, you're not getting away that easily."

"What?"

"You have another part of last night to explain. So we are going to go eat and you're spilling everything." Karen smirked and dragged Sheril into the kitchen to eat breakfast with Sidney. "Alright, let's go. I want to know what possessed you to have a little make out session with Tanger" she asked only to make Sidney choke on his bite of pancakes.

"Do I need to leave?"

"No, that's ok."

"Ok, quit stalling."

"Well, after finding the letters I saw you two being all lovey and then looking at Nat and Max just put me over the top. I went to the bar and had a few too many shots and when Kris came over....all he said was 'you ok' and I just grabbed him and kissed him."

"Never thought of that approach."

"Yeah, if he remembers. He joined me in a few more shots and a lot more kisses when I stumbled that I was sorry and couldn't do it. Told him I was married and things were rocky. Said I just needed something to feel like I'm getting back at Steve. He nodded and said he was ok with it, then I found Diane and we left."

Sidney sat there and listened but didn't want to ask any questions knowing Karen would fill him in after she left. They finished eating and talking for another hour before Sheril left. Karen came back into the living room and saw Sidney sitting on the couch, going over to sit with him and putting her head on his lap. Sidney heard her sigh and brought his hand up to run his fingers through her hair.

"You alright baby?"

"Yeah. Guess you want an idea of what's going on huh?"

"Well when she said she found letters I guess her husband was writing to another woman."

"He talked about missing being with her and he loved the time they were together and he ended it with 'love you', so of course it freaked her out."

"How long have they been married?"

"Just about 20 years. They dated during high school and after graduation he left for the Army so they got married before he left."

"Wow, I'm sorry." Karen just smiled and sighed again as he was relaxing her, caressing her hair "something else wrong baby?" She didn't say anything, just shook her head no "you know I would love to believe you but..."

"I guess it just has me thinking if you have secrets from going to games in other cities or even back home before I've come for a visit." Karen felt his fingers stop going through her hair "guess that's a yes?"

"It's not a yes but there had been other girls in other cities we've been to. Nothing ever happened once we got together, please believe me about that."

Karen turned her head to look at the sincerity in his eyes "I believe you Sid, but when you see your friends go through something like this it's hard not to wonder too, especially when you're gone for 10 or more days."

"I know baby but my love for you will never make me go back to any of that."

"You know if you're lying I will come down before every game and completely throw you off your routine."

"And for that reason, I am absolutely telling you the truth."

"Good boy" she said then turned her head back smiling. Sidney just shook his head laughing and went back to stroking her hair and looking forward to spending a peaceful day together.
